Console Carlo X c.1830, Piemonte
Solid walnut and walnut veneers, top surface in golden travertine. This is an unusual piece, as it is fashioned in a style that is a transition from the clean, simple lines of the Carlo X to the more decorative Luigi Filippo style. Most notably, this can be found in the leg carvings, which include reverse curves, sunflowers, and an unusual fishnet pattern combined to create a pleasing, but not overpowering decorative element. A substantial piece that includes a discreet drawer with hidden pulls, all supported by substantial lion’s paw feet.
