Scrittoio Writing Desk, c.1890 Torino

Writing Desk in solid walnut and walnut veneers.  Carved in the renaissance style with a thick slab top and uncomplicated moldings.  Side panels are ornately carved with an acanthus leaf-and-scroll motif, and column supports are elegantly sculpted.  Wave-form feet upon an I-shaped support give this piece strength without being bulky.
