Tavolo Rolo Round Inlay Table, c.1890 Neufchatel
Round table in solid walnut with exotic wood inlay. Built in the Empire style, this spectacular table is a classic example of highly skilled woodworking. Multiple types of exotic woods are handcut and fitted into a stylized star pattern radiating out to the edges of the table. Additional patterns include a slender filet in multiple tones around the circumference, a diagonal edging pattern, and an intricate band around the apron. The vase-and-ring turned pedestal is solid walnut, and is supported by three cabriole-carved legs.
