Libreria Bookcase, c. 1890 Lombardia

Bookcase in solid walnut and walnut veneers.  Worked in a lighter version of the Renaissance style.  Ornate stepped crown molding with egg-and-dart trim.  Corner blocks bearing decorative rosettes, and a central panel of walnut burl.  Three glass-paneled doors with scrolling decorative ironwork.  Lower panels with walnut burl and intricately carved moldings.  Side supports with reeded columns and elaborate capitals.  Wave-carved base is supported by sturdy lion’s paw feet.
